Why a Certificate Program?

A certificate program actually gives students some advantages.

1. Flexibility. Because LAS is not a stand-alone major, you can pair your interests in Latin American studies with a number of other disciplines, including: history, anthropology, American studies, political science, economics, literature, sociology, business, international studies, art & art history, and many more.

2. Options. Because LAS is an interdisciplinary program, you can customize a program of study to fit your own specific interests or needs.

3. Specialization. In addition to flexibility and more options, the LAS certificate program allows you to specialize and work closely with a core of faculty with specialized training, experience, and enthusiasm in issues related to Latin America.
