Symphonic Band
Symphonic BandThe Dickinson College Symphonic Band could perhaps more appropriately be described as a wind ensemble of from 40 to 50 wind and percussion players. Membership in the DCSB is open through audition to all Dickinson student instrumentalists, regardless of major, supplemented by a varying number of community performers drawn from the areas surrounding Carlisle. Rehearsal and performance schedules are designed to accommodate the type of academic load often undertaken by Dickinson students yet allow for the development of the highest possible musical performance standards.

The DCSB performs two concerts on campus during the academic year. The repertoire includes twentieth-century wind band masterworks, transcriptions, concert marches, and show medleys.

The focus of the DCSB is on providing wind and percussion players of varying abilities and interests an outlet for their musical gifts through exposure to a variety of literature, coupled with the opportunity to enjoy a temporary (!) break from the rigors of Dickinson academics.

The DCSB rehearses on Thursdays from 7 to 9 PM in the Weiss Rehearsal Room. (Click here for the Department’s Departmental Ensemble Attendance Policies.)
