Red Devils Second at 11th Annual DuCharme Invitational

(Carlisle, PA)-- The Dickinson College men's indoor track team finished second behind Division II neighbor Shippensburg at the 11th Annual DuCharme Invitational. The Raiders tallied 249 points with the Red Devils posting 100. Millersville University was third with 91.

Peter Birney (Santa Monica, CA/Brentwood), who broke the Kline Center record in the 1000 meters last weekend, won the mile with a time of 4:38.30. Sophomore Steven Hendrix (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) set a school record and tied the Centennial in the pole vault. He won the event as well, clearing a height of 15 feet. Classmate Ben Hargrave (Lake Oswego, OR/Lakeridge) was third in the pole vault with a height of 13 feet.

The 4x1600 meter relay set a school and Kline Center record with a winning time of 18:17.89 while the 4x200 meter relay crossed the line second at 1:34.36.

First-year Matt Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) was second in the high jump, clearing 1.75 meters. Patrick McMurphy (Potomac, MD) set a school record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:28.59, placing fifth. Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montvile) placed third in the 3000, crossing in 8:57.42.

The Red Devils will be compete at the USATF Florida Winter Meet on January 20th.

Red Devils Second at Holiday Invitational
December 2, 2006

(Carlisle, PA)-- The Dickinson College men's indoor track team placed second at their own Holiday Invitational while the women finished third overall in the team standings. Gettysburg captured the team title on the men's side while Elizabethtown claimed the women's title. The Red Devil women tallied 71 points. The Bullet men scored 126 points on the day with the Devil men next, scoring 114.5 points.

Sophomores Stephen Hendrix (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) and Ben Hargrave (Lake Oswego, OR/Gwynn Park) claimed the top two spots in the pole vault while Ian Sobotka (Medford, NY) and Tom Flynn (Montrose, NY/Hendrick Hudson) tied for fifth. Hendrix won the event with a height of 14 feet. Hargrave cleared 13'-6" while Sobotka and Flynn both topped 12 feet.

Senior Peter Birney (Santa Monica, CA/Brentwood) won the men's 1000 meters with a time of 2:39.29

The Dickinson men captured the 4x200 relay and finished second in the 4x400. The Devils swept the 55 meter hurdles events as Robert Chain (Fort Washington, PA/Central) clocked a time of 7.96 to win on the men's side and Lisa Bollwage (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) posted a 9.34 to claim the women's event.

Sophomore Kristen Soloky (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) cleared nine feet even to place second in the pole vault. First-year Jenna Banning (Plymouth, MA) was second in the high jump with a height of 4'-10".

The Red Devils are home again next Friday night, hosting the DuCharme Invitational at 6:00 pm
