Wins 2005-06 McAndrews Award (Carlisle, PA) - Dickinson College graduate Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) was the co-winner of the 2005-06 McAndrews Award. The McAndrews Award is the most prestigious honor presented to a Dickinson College athlete. In addition to being an outstanding student-athletes, the recipients possess strong leadership qualities, demonstrate good sportsmanship and serve as positive role models for future athletes. This year, Dickinson honored three remarkable student-athletes for their contributions during the 2005-06 academic year. There were many qualified candidates for both the men and the women. 2006 graduate Annie Scogin (Groton, NY/Groton Central) was presented the award for her commitment and dedication to the women’s cross country and track.& field programs. The vote on the men’s side led to co-winners. Ryan Stearrett ’07 (Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth), a standout in both football and baseball, shared the honor with Read. Read played a major role in the growing success of the men’s lacrosse program. He was named to the 2006 STX/United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-America team, leading the Red Devils to 11 wins and their third Centennial Conference playoff appearance. Read proved to be one of the most prolific goal scorers in the history of the men’s lacrosse program. He capped an outstanding career with a stellar senior season, scoring a team-high 38 goals and handing out 20 assists. He ranks second all-time at Dickinson with 186 career points, third in goals with 120 and fourth with 66 assists. Read was a unanimous First-team All-Centennial Conference attackman and joined classmate Ed Boyd ’06 (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) in the North/South Senior All-Star game. The Red Devils finished the 2006 campaign 11-4 overall, setting the school record for wins in a season. The Devils also set a school mark with 10 consecutive home victories between the 2005 and 2006 seasons. The class of 2006 set a school record for wins by a class with 36 over four years. Chicago Selects Kirk in National Lacrosse League Draft (Chicago, Il) - Former Dickinson College midfielder Mike Kirk (Orangeville, Ontario/Salisbury) was the 27th selection in the 2006 National Lacrosse League draft, held on Wednesday, September 13th. Kirk, a native of Orangeville, Ontario was a captain for the Red Devils in 2006 as they set a school record with an 11-4 record. He was a four-year starter, received All-Centennial Conference honors as a junior and led Dickinson to three CC Playoff appearances. Kirk is the first Dickinson lacrosse player to be selected for the professional indoor league. The Chicago Shamrox chose Kirk with the second pick in the third round. He was the 16th NCAA collegiate player selected and one of only two from a Division III program. Head coach David Webster is excited about the chance for Kirk to continue his playing career at the professional level. "Mike has worked hard to achieve this goal and we are thrilled for the opportunity he has in front of him. He is an experienced indoor player and will contribute in many positive ways to his new team. We are very excited for him and proud of this great accomplishment. We wish him great success and a rewarding career," said Webster. The 65th edition of the annual event will feature a new format this year as 30 Division III players face-off against a team of 30 players from Division I and II programs. The game is being held at Villanova Stadium in Villanova, Pennsylvania on Friday, May 26th at 7:00 pm. Read and Boyd were both First-team All-Centennial Conference selections this season, leading the Red Devils to a school record 11 wins. Read ranks second all-time at Dickinson with 186 career points, third in goals with 120 and fourth with 66 assists. He scored a team-high 38 goals and added 20 assists in 2006. Five Red Devils Earn All-Centennial Conference Honors (Carlisle, PA) - The Dickinson College men's lacrosse team placed five players on the All-Centennial Conference team this spring. Senior Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) capped a remarkable career, earning a unanimous First-team selection to the All-CC squad. He was joined by classmate Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) on the First-team. Read and Boyd were also selected to play in the 65th Annual North/South Senior All-Star game. Senior Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) was a Second-team selection while juniors Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) and Bernie Nolan (Bowie, MD/Gonzaga) were named Honorable Mention. Read ranks second all-time at Dickinson with 186 career points, third in goals with 120 and fourth with 66 assists. He scored a team-high 38 goals and added 20 assists in 2006. Burch and Boyd rank sixth and seventh in career points with 136 and 132, respectively. They both rank in the top 10 for career goals and assists as well. Burch ranks seventh with 73 goals and sixth with 63 assists. Boyd is ninth all-time with 72 goals and eighth with 50 assists. Burch was second on the team in points in 2006, scoring 17 goals and handing out a team-best 28 assists. Boyd tallied 21 goals and 17 assists, and Lawless chipped in with 23 goals and four assists. Nolan, a face-off specialist, raised his career win total to 497 this season, placing him second on the all-time list. Nolan claimed 129 face-offs (57%) and a team-high 61ground balls. The men’s lacrosse team had another great year, winning a school record 11 games and making its third consecutive appearance in the Centennial Conference playoffs. It was a year of milestones for the program as the Red Devils earned their first national ranking, climbing as high as eighth in the USILA coaches’ poll. Head coach Dave Webster ’88 recorded his 100th career win when Dickinson defeated Wooster College 8-5 on March 18th. The Devils also recorded the program’s first win over perennial national power Washington College, posting a 9-7 victory over the Shoremen. 2006 All-Centennial Conference Lacrosse Team Devil Rally Falls Short in Centennial Semifinal (Gettysburg, PA) - The #15th-ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team made its third consecutive appearance in the Centennial Conference playoffs, falling to #8-ranked Washington College 9-5. The Shoremen jumped out to a 5-1 lead at halftime behind a truly outstanding performance by Washington goaltender Kevin Thibideau. Junior goaltender Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) was brilliant as well, stopping 10 shots in the first half, including nine in the second quarter as Washington held a 20-6 shot advantage. The Devils dominated the opening period with a 16-5 edge in shots, but trailed 2-0. The Shoremen claimed all five face-offs in the second quarter and won 12-of-18 for the game. Washington capitalized early in the second half, scoring three straight, including two extra-man opportunities to pull in front 8-1. Senior attackman Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) took over with an assist and two goals to cut the margin to 8-4 at the 9:09 mark of the fourth quarter. Junior Drew Peace (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin) scored unassisted 41 seconds later to pull the Devils within three goals. The Shoremen drained the clock while the Devils battled and gained possession with strong play from the defense and midfield. Sophomore Paul Serpe (Essex Falls, NJ/Salisbury) tallied six ground balls while Riley added four for the Devils. Read finished the game with three goals and one assist while Peace added two goals. Read moved into second on the all-time scoring list at Dickinson with 186 points in his career. He ranks third all-time with 120 goals and fourth in assists with 66. Senior Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) handed out an assist to give him 50 for his career, ranking him eighth. He is ninth all-time with 72 goals and seventh with 131 career points. Senior Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) also ranks among the career leaders with 136 points (6th), 73 goals (t-7th) and 63 assists (6th). Riley made 14 stops on the afternoon, moving him into the top 10 at Dickinson with 366 career saves. Chris Read, younger brother of Brian, scored six goals to lead the Shoremen attack. Thibideau made 10 saves for the day. Dickinson closes out the season with an 11-4 mark overall. They set a school record for wins in a season this spring while the seniors graduate with the most wins by a class in school history. The Red Devils broke a 3-3, first period tie with a 7-1 run to take a 10-6 lead at halftime. The Devils outscored the Bears 7-3 in the final 30 minutes to improve to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in the Centennial Conference. Senior Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) scored five goals and handed out three assists to lead the attack. Junior Drew Peace (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin) dished out five assists and tallied a goal while senior Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) had a hat-trick with three goals and also added a pair of assists. Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) chipped in with two goals and one assist. Junior face-off specialist Bernie Nolan (Bowie, MD/Gonzaga) won 10-of-13 face-offs and tallied a game-high eight ground balls. Scott Sporn (Bedford Corners, NY/Pomfret) won 6-of-11 while first-year Clark Appleby (Chevy Chase, MD/Bullis) won 2-of-3. Junior goaltender Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) made 15 saves in 47 minutes of action. First-year goalies Russell Matthews (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) and Alex Bubier (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) combined to stop five shots in the final quarter. Senior midfielder Mike Kirk (Orangeville, Ontario/Salisbury) controlled five ground balls while sophomore Matt Kogelschatz (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's) tallied four GBs. Dave Mangin led Ursinus (4-11, 1-7) with a pair of goals. Matt Orlando made seven saves in the first half while Austin Wisner and Tony Aquilino combined for three on the second half. The Red Devils will make their third consecutive appearance in the Centennial Conference playoffs next weekend. The semifinals are on Friday at top-seed Gettysburg College. Bullets Stop Devils to Earn Top Playoff Spot (Carlisle, PA) - The number two ranked team in the nation, Gettysburg College, lived up to its billing in a 13-4 win over #13-ranked Dickinson here on Wednesday afternoon. The Bullets secure the top seed and the right to host the Centennial Conference playoffs next weekend. The Red Devils struck first as junior Brian Mohler (Baltimore, MD/Loyola) beat the defense at the 9:03 mark of the first period. Gettysburg answered with just 35 seconds remaining in the period to tie the game 1-1. Jared Harriman scored just eight seconds into the second as the Bullets held a 4-1 advantage in the period to lead 5-2 at halftime. Mohler struck again to open the third period with another unassisted goal and senior Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) finished a pass from Drew Peace (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin) to cut the deficit to 5-4. Despite a still relatively even game, it was all Bullets in the scoring column as they tallied the final eight goals over the last 9:01. Brian Pryor led the Bullets with a game-high four goals and one assist while Evan Gallant added three goals and one assist, and Harriman finished the day with three goals and one assist. Senior face-off man Chris Renzi won 12 face-offs and had five ground balls. Mohler led the way with his two goals while Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) tied the game 2-2 with an unassisted goal early in the second period. Over F&M (Lancaster, PA) - The 14th-Ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team set a school record with its 10th win of the season, posting a 12-10 victory at Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Devils set the single season win mark with nine wins in 2004 and matched that total last season. The Red Devils improve to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the Centennial Conference. Dickinson held a slim 2-1 advantage after one quarter and led 6-4 at halftime. The Diplomats struck just 1:13 into the second half before senior Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) scored back-to-back goals just 33 seconds apart and Derek Still (Oreleand, PA/Penn Charter) made it three straight to put the Devils in front 9-5. Junior Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) assisted both of Boyd's goals and also fed senior Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) on back-to-back tallies late in the first half. Dickinson led 11-6 at the start of the fourth quarter. The Diplomats looked to rally, scoring three straight goals to cut the deficit to 11-9. Junior Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) ended the run with an unassisted goal with 2:14 remaining in the game. F&M closed out the scoring with a late goal before the Devils gained possession and held the ball for the final minute. Read finished the day with three goals, three assists and three ground balls. Burch scored two of the Devils' first three goals and tallied a game-high four assists. Boyd and Drew Peace (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin) each had two goals and one assist, and Lawless tallied a pair. Junior Bernie Nolan (Bowie, MD/Gonzaga) came on strong in the second half as the Devils held a 10-4 advantage on face-offs. Nolan finished 16-for-24 on the afternoon and controlled a game-high eight ground balls. Junior Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) played an outstanding game in the cage, stopping 16 shots. Win (Swarthmore, PA) - The 14th-Ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team tied the school record for the third straight year, winning its ninth game of the season. The Red Devils posted a 12-7 victory over Swarthmore College to improve to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils sandwiched a pair a goals around two Swarthmore tallies to tie the game 2-2 at the end of the first period. Dickinson used a 4-1 second quarter to take a 6-3 lead at halftime. The teams traded goals to start the second half before the Devils scored three straight to take control 10-4 with 10:08 remaining in the game. The Garnet Tide struck twice in a span of 1:25 to pull within 10-6. The Devils answered with two of their won before Swarthmore's Todd Friedman closed out the scoring with 51 seconds left in the game. Junior Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/La Salle) led the attack with a hat-trick, scoring three goals on the day. Devils Turn Back Mules 13-9 (Carlisle, PA) - The 14th-Ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team overcame an early deficit to defeat Muhlenberg College 13-9 on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Devils improved to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial Conference while the Mules dropped to 4-5 and 1-3 in the CC. Senior Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) scored four goals and handed out three assists to lead the attack while junior Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) also tallied four goals and added an assist. Read scored the game's first two goals, putting the Devils on the board at the 12:59 mark and again with 10:41 to go in the opening period. James Robinson answered for Muhlenberg midway through the period before Read assisted Burch to make the score 3-1. Muhlenberg then went on the offensive, scoring three straight goals to take the lead 4-3 at the end of the first quarter. Senior Galen Marsh made it four straight for the Mules to give the visitors a 5-3 advantage with 12:19 remaining in the half. The tide turned once again as Dickinson started a 5-0 run with three goals to end the half, holding a slim 6-5 lead. The Devils stretched the margin to 8-5 before Sean Toohill stopped the run with a goal at the 2:25 mark of the third period. The Devils struck twice in the final 1:26 and Read scored his final goal at the 12:38 mark of the fourth quarter to put Dickinson in control 11-6. The teams would trade goals through the remainder of the period with both teams scoring extra-man goals in the final four minutes. Win (Carlisle, PA) - Two of the top teams in the ever competitive Centennial Conference squared-off in Carlisle while two others went head-to-head in Gettysburg. In Gettysburg, the third ranked Bullets held-off #9-Washington College 6-5. In Carlisle the game was just as close with visiting Haverford surviving a 10-9 double-overtime decision to remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0 while improving to 8-3 overall. The #8-ranked Red Devils slip to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the CC. The game was tied 2-2 after the first period and locked a 5-5 as the teams headed into halftime. After the break, Haverford tallied two third quarter goals to take the biggest lead of the game at 7-5. Senior Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) scored the game's opening goal and struck again to start the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 7-6 before Matt Thorne-Fitzgerald answered 34 seconds later to put the 'Fords back in front by two at 8-6. Boyd went on a personal mission, scoring twice in a span of 33 seconds, the second with a beautiful assist from Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) to knot the game 8-8 with 9:12 remaining on the clock. Ben Reed scored with 5:32 remaining. Reed was knocked from his feet in front of the goal but managed to collect the loose ball and fire a shot over his shoulder for a 9-8 advantage. Junior Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyala Blakefield) pulled the Devils even one last time, scoring his second goal of the day off an assist from Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) with 3:01 to go in the contest. The teams both had quality chances in the first overtime, but it was the defenses that held for the first four minutes. In the second, the 'Fords were able to capitalize on their fourth man-up opportunity as Reed finished a pass from Dean Granoff for the win. Boyd scored a game-high four goals and had one assist. Read scored once and dished out three assists while Lawless had one goal and one assist, Burch two goals, one assist and junior Scott Dalgliesh (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) added a goal as well. Top McDaniel 12-8 (Westminster, MD) - The 10th-ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference with a 12-8 win over McDaniel College on Saturday. The Red Devils struck first and led throughout the game, scoring three goals in each quarter. Junior Drew Peace (Lutherville, MD/Boys' Latin) struck first at the 11:16 mark of the first period. McDaniel's Kolyn Kirby answered just 30 seconds later before a four-goal run put the Devils in front 5-1 with 11:16 remaining in the second period. The Green Terror pulled within 6-4 at halftime and scored the first goal of the third period to cut the margin to 6-5 with 13:11 remaining in the third. A three-goal run, including a pair of goals from senior Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) gave Dickinson a 9-6 lead heading into the final period. McDaniel scored right out of the gate to start the fourth, but senior Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's) responded with a man-down goal to stretch the lead back to three. Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/La Salle) converted Flynn Burch's (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) third assist of the afternoon to make the score 11-7 with 7:56 remaining in the contest. March 27, 2006 (Carlisle, Pa) - Senior Brian Read (Timonium,MD/Boys' Latin) was named Player of the Week by both the Centennial Conference and the Eastern College Athletci Conference. Read scored all four of his goals in the final quarter to lead the Red Devils to a 9-7 come-from-behind victory over previously undefeated and fifth-ranked Washington College. He also added two goals to the 17-2 win over Lycoming, including the 100th of his career. Read now has 104 goals and 157 points in his career. Read earned the second straight CC Player of the Week honor for the Red Devils, following Kevin Riley's selection for his play in goal the previous week. 9-7 (Carlisle, Pa) - The 15th-ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team erased a two-goal deficit in the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run to knock-off fifth-ranked and previously unbeaten Washington College 9-7 on Saturday. The win over the Shoremen is the first in the program's history as Washington held a 16-0 series lead heading into the contest. Senior attackman Brian Read (Timonium,MD/Boys' Latin) scored all of his game-high four goals in the final quarter. Read tied the game at 6-6, then gave the Devils a one-goal advantage with 7:30 remaining on an extra-man tally with an assist from Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield). The Red Devils went up 2-0 in the first quarter before Washington's Chris Read, brother of Brian, scored off an assist from Jimmy Kielek to make the score 2-1 at the end of the period. The teams traded goals in the second to send the game into halftime with Dickinson holding a slim 3-2 advantage. After the break, the Shoremen gained the momentum, scoring four straight goals to pull in front 6-4 with one quarter remaining. Read and the Devils wasted little time drawing even as the senior tallied goals at the 13:36 mark and again just 24 seconds later to tie the game at 6-6. A slashing penalty against Washington gave Dickinson a key man-up opportunity at the 7:52 mark. Read finished a pass from Burch to put the Devils back in front 7-6. Junior midfielder Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) found the back of the net just over a minute later with what would prove to be the game-winner with 6:19 remaining in the game. Read found a seam and beat the Shoremen once more with an insurance goal with 2:33 on the clock. The Devils won the ensuing face-off but a great save by Washington goaltender Kevin Thibadeau triggered a Shoremen fastbreak that ended with Ryan Morrison scoring off an assist from Andrew Generazio. The Devils again won the face-off, but a tenacious defensive effort put the ball in the hands of the Shoremen. The Devil defense held and junior goaltender Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) stopped one last attempt as time ran out. The game was closely balanced statistically with Washington holding a slim advantage in shots (29-27) and ground balls (22-20). Each team claimed 10 face-offs. The Red Devil defense and three separate goaltenders turned in outstanding performances, holding the Warriors scoreless until the 5:47 mark of the fourth quarter. Dickinson tallied five goals in each of the first two periods to take a 10-0 lead into halftime. The Devils tacked on three in the third and four in the fourth as they improve to 5-1 on the season. Senior attackman Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) reached the 100 career goal mark, scoring his second goal of the game at the 10:20 mark of the second period. Read finished the day with two goals and one assist, ranking him fourth all-time on the school career points list with 151. He is the sixth Dickinson player to reach the century mark for goals scored. of the Week (Carlisle, Pa) - Dickinson College men's lacrosse goaltender Kevin Riley (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for his performance in a pair of Red Devil wins last week. Riley posted a 72.0 save percentage for the week, stopping 13 shots in an 8-5 win over Wooster and holding Goucher scoreless in the second half of a 10-2 victory. 8-5 (Towson, MD) - Dickinson College head men’s lacrosse coach David Webster reached the century mark for wins as the Red Devils posted an 8-5 victory over Wooster College on Saturday afternoon. The game was tied at the end of each quarter until the Devils tallied three unanswered goals in the final quarter to improve to 4-1 on the season. Dickinson struck quickly as junior Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) scored off an assist from senior Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul’s). Shawn Handy dished out a pair of assists at the 8:12 mark and again with 6:01 remaining to put the Fighting Scots in front 2-1. First-year Phil Caputo (Sewickley, PA/Sewickley Academy) pulled the Devils even with an unassisted goal to close out the scoring for the first period. Caputo traded goals with Wooster’s Tim Lee in the second period to send the game into halftime tied 3-3. After the break Read put the Devils in front off a feed from Caputo at the 12:57 mark of the third quarter. The Scots took advantage of a Red Devil penalty with an extra-man goal at 10:59 and recaptured the lead with 7:48 on the clock. Read evened the score once again, finding the net with just 1:50 to go in the third. Dickinson gained control in the fourth quarter and maintained possession for the better part of the period. The Devils showed patience and tallied three goals off the settled offense. Lawless beat the defense to net the game-winner just 1:42 into the final period. Read completed the hat-trick on an extra-man goal with a beautiful feed from senior Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) just over a minute later for the Devils’ biggest lead of the day. The defense rose to the challenge and held Wooster scoreless for the final 23 minutes of the contest while the attack tallied four straight goals. Goucher 10-2 (Carlisle, PA)--The 15th-ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team improved to 3-1 on the season with a 10-2 win over Goucher on Wednesday. The Red Devils led just 3-2 at halftime, but scored two goals in the third and tacked on five in the fourth as the Red Devil defense held the Gophers scoreless for the final 32 minutes of the game. Goucher struck first out of the stick of Ross Nochumowitz at the 10:45 mark of the first quarter. Junior midfielder Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) answered with goals at the 2:04 mark and again with 58 seconds remaining to put the Devils in front 2-1. Senior Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) assisted Lawless' second goal and found the back of the net with just eight seconds on the clock to stretch the margin to 3-1 at the end of the first period. Dan Flamholtz scored Goucher's final tally, taking a pass from Dan Abrams and breaking free with 2:26 remaining in the half to pull the Gophers within a goal. Dickinson put three goals on the board to open the game before Kenyon answered with two scores in the final 4:16 to give the Devils a 3-2 lead after one period. Red Devils Ready for 2006 Campaign As the Dickinson College men's lacrosse team prepares for its 2006 season opener, 11 seniors begin their final campaign and look to build on the team's success in recent years. Those 11 seniors represent head coach David Webster's first recruiting class, and have all had a major impact on the program. Three Dickinson College players were named to the 2005 All-Centennial Conference team. Junior Brian Read (Timonium, MD/Boys' Latin) and Ed Boyd (Owings Mills, MD/St. Paul's), and sophomore Bernie Nolan (Bowie, MD/Gonzaga) were all named to the second team. Read earned his second straight selection to the squad, leading the team and finishing second in the CC in scoring with 59 points. He tallied 36 goals and 23 assists, ranking fifth on the school's single-season top ten list for points, sixth for assists and seventh for goals. He netted a career-high seven goals against nationally fourth-ranked Gettysburg and led the Devils to a second straight conference playoff appearance. Read currently ranks fifth all time at Dickinson with 128 points, sixth with 82 goals and sixth with 46 assists. Read will be joined on the attack by classmate Flynn Burch (Ruxton, MD/Loyola Blakefield), who finished second on the team in scoring in 2005 with 28 and 17 assists. Boyd is the top returner in the offensive midfield, quarterbacking the offense while scoring 14 goals and seven assists last season. He made his second straight appearance on the All-Centennial team, earning honorable mention status in2004. Boyd broke into the school's top ten with 62 career goals and 33 assists. Senior Andy Brown (Monkton, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and junior Ed Lawless (Abington, PA/LaSalle) will look to play beside Boyd on one midfield line. Juniors Scott Murley (Chicago, Il/Westminster) and Brian Mohler (Baltimore, MD/Loyola) will lead another potentially strong line with rookies Phil Caputo (Sewickley, PA/Sewickley Academy) and Bennett Albertson (Branchville, NJ/Portsmouth Abbey). Nolan was once again one of the nation and conference's premier face-off men last season, winning 175 battles. He finished second in the CC with a 68 percent winning percentage and led the Centennial with 101 ground balls. His 175 victories ranks Nolan second on the school's single-season top ten list after setting the record in 2004 with 193 wins. He is currently third all-time with 368 career face-off wins in just two seasons. Sophomore Scott Sporn (Bedford Corners, NY/Pomfret) will provide additional strength and depth at the face-off position. Five seniors bring a wealth of experience to the defensive midfield this spring. Captains MikeKirk (Orangeville, Ontario/Salisbury) and Justin Marks (E. Falmouth, MA/Salisbury) highlight the talented group, along with short-sticks Mark Norton (Kensington, MD/Gonzaga) and Ross Koenig (Bethesda, MD/Bullis), and long-stick Wauker Matthews (Chestertown, MD/Kent County). Seniors Dillon DePalmer (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) and Blake O'Shaughnessy (Sewickley, PA/Sewickley Academy) will anchor the Red Devil defense this season. Junior Tim Marshall (Phoenix, MD/Calvert Hall) and a handful of sophomores; Matt Kogelschatz (Baltimore, MD/St. Paul's), Paul Serpe (Essex Falls, NJ/Salisbury) and Nick Marshall (Perry Hall, MD/McDonogh) also play primary roles on defense. In goal, junior Kevin Reilly (Westfield, NJ/Lawrenceville) is expected return to his starting position, following another great season in 2005. He finished strong in 2005 and has carried that momentum into preseason.
