Liebal Earns All-America Honors in 10,000 Meters

(Naperville, IL)- Dickinson College junior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) earned All-America honors with an eighth place finish in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. Liebal crossed the line in 31:17.70 on Thursday evening.

Sophomore Caitlin Bradley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) qualified for the women's 3000 meter steeplechase and will run at approximately 6:00 pm on Friday.

Bradley Wins 3000 Meter Steeplechase at ECAC Championships
May 18-19, 2006

(Springfield, MA)- Dickinson College sophomore Caitlin Bradley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) clocked a time of 11:06.80 to win the 3000 meter steeplechase at the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday afternoon.

Bradley's win placed Dickinson tied for fifth in the team standings at the end of the first day of events.

On Friday Tom Morgan (E. Bridgewater, MA/E. Bridgewater) placed ninth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:02.21 while Katie Creme (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) finished 14th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.21.


Morgan Sets School Mark in 1500 Meters

(Villanova, PA)- Dickinson College sophomore Tom Morgan (E. Bridgewater, MA/E. Bridgewater) set a school record with an NCAA provisional time of 3:54.37 in the 1500 meters at the Villanova University Tuppent Twilight meet on Monday night. Morgan finished eighth overall and second in Division III.

Senior Annie Scogin (Groton, NY/Groton) was second in the 5000 meters, running a time of 18:20.36 while Katie Creme (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) placed ninth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.93.

Devil Women Third, Men Seventh at CC Championships

(Westminster, MD)- The Dickinson College women's outdoor track & field team placed second at the Centennial Conference Championships while the men placed seventh in the team standings.

Senior Annie Scogin (Groton, NY/Groton Central) won the 5000 meters with a time of 17;52.66. The Red Devils swept the medals as first-year Darcy McDonald (Lititz, PA/Warwick) crossed second and sophomore Caitlin Bradley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) was third.

McDonald and Bradley earned points in the 1500 meters, finishing third and fifth, respectively.

Iva Liou (Fairfield, PA/Fairfield) claimed second in the shot put with a throw of 11.64 meters. She placed eighth in the javelin with a distance of 31.48 meters.

Katie Creme (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) added a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:04.01. Elizabeth Miller (Vienna, VA/James Madison) was fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.69.

Sophomore Robert Chain (Fort Washington, PA/Central) won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.11. Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) and Tom Rhodes (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Dublin) crossed third and fifth in the 5000 meters with times of 14:57.71 and 15:14.52, respectively.

Tom Morgan (E. Bridgewater, MA/E. Bridgewater) was fourth in the 1500 meters.

Haverford College won both the men's and women's team titles. The Ford men posted 144 points to better Gettysburg with 111.

The 'Ford women tallied 185 points, Muhlenberg was second with 138 while the Devils scored 108.

Centennial Conference Championships Day Two

(Westminster, MD)- The Dickinson College women's track and field team is currently second after day two of the Centennial Conference Championships. The Red Devil men are third, behind Haverford and McDaniel while the Haverford women lead in the team standings as well.

Caitlin Bradley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:07.26. First-year Darcy McDonald (Lititz, PA/Warwick) was second and Layla Naficy (Westfield, CT/Staples) came across fifth.

Katie Creme (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) placed second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.84. Senior Iva Liou (Fairfield, PA/Fairfield) was fourth in the discus with a throw of 34.29 and Lisa Bollwage (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) was sixth in the heptathlon.

Tom Morgan (E. Bridgewater, MA/E. Bridgewater) led the men with a third place showing in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.33. Robert Chain (Fort Washington, PA/Central) placed second in the prelims of the 110 meter hurdles and fourth in the prelims of the 400 hurdles.

Stephen Hendrix (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) and Ben Hargrave (Lake Oswego, OR/Gwynn Park) were fifth and sixth in the pole vault.

Competition concludes on Sunday afternoon.

Scogin, Rhodes Claim Centennial 10k Titles

(Westminster, MD)- Senior Tom Rhodes (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Dublin) set a Centennial Conference Championship Meet record, winning the men's 10,000 meters on Friday night. Rhodes clocked a time of 31:10.06 to capture the title while junior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) crossed second in 31:24.26.
Sophomore Evan Sparling (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spalkenkill) placed fifth and Michael Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink) was seventh.

Senior Annie Scogin (Groton, NY/Groton) posted an NCAA provisional time of 37:19.55 to win the women's 10,000 meters. Eliza Eshelman (Columbia City, IN/Canterbury) was seventh while Caitlin Strahota (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) placed eighth with times of 41:00.17 and 41:17.93, respectively.

Competition contines on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.

Devils Show Well at Bucknell Distance Carnival

(Lewisburg, PA)- The Dickinson College men's and women's outdoor track teams turned in strong individual performances at the Bucknell Outdoor Distance Classic.

Senior Abbey Fergusson (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) finished sixth overall and first in Division III in the 10,000 meters with a time of 37:35.51. Senior Annie Scogin (Groton, NY/Groton Central) placed 10th overall and second among D-III runners in the 5000 meters. She clocked a time of 17:24.50 while sophomore Caitlin Bradley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) placed 13th overall and third in D-III with a time of 17:29.52.

First-year Darcy McDonald (Lititz, PA/Warwick) turned in the top Division III time in the 3000 meter steeplechase and finished sixth overall with a time of 11:35.60.

Senior Tom Rhodes (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Dublin) and sophomore Evan Sparling (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spalkenkill) posted the top Division III times in the 10,000 meters. Rhodes finished fifth overall with a time of 31:11.27 while Sparling crossed the line in 31:37.09.

The Red Devils are scheduled to compete in the Princeton Distance Carnival next weekend.

Red Devils Second at Little Three
April 8, 2006

(Carlisle)- The Dickinson College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams both finished second at the 30th Annual Little Three Championship on Saturday.

The Gettysburg men and women both captured the 2006 team titles with 144 and 147 points, respectively. The Red Devil women posted 128 points while the men tallied 138. Franklin & Marshall placed third with the women scoring 107 and the men 112.

Senior Iva Liou (Fairfield, PA/Fairfield) won the shot put with a throw of 36' 10-1/4" and placed second in both the discus and the javelin.

Senior Annie Scogin (Groton, NY/Groton Central) crossed the line first in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:53.28. She also finished first with the distance medley relay. Also on the relay were Darcy McDonald (Lititz, PA/Warwick), Dani Luthriger (Pittstown, NJ) and Caitlin Strahota (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro).

Luthringer cleared 9'-6" to win the pole vault while McDonald won the 3000 meters in a time of 11:00.56.

Abbey Fergusson (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) placed first on the 5000 with a time of 18:34.67 and Lisa Bollwage (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) had the top time in the 110 hurdles with a 17.71.

Senior Tom Rhodes (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Dublin) paced the men with wins in the 1500 and 5000 meters. He ran a 4:20.68 in the 1500 and a 16:12.98 in the 5k.

Robert Chain (Fort Washington, PA/Central) won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.64 and joined the 4x100 relay for a winning time of 43.74.

Victor Johnson (Wayne, PA/Radnor), Nick Trimboli (Harahan, LA/Portsmouth Abbey, RI) and Will Scott (Capital Hts, MD/Mercersburg Academy) also ran the 4x100.

Stephen Hendrix (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) cleared a height of 14 feet to tie for first in the pole vault. Evan Sparling (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spalkenkill) won the 3000 meters with a time of 9:41.70.

The men's distance medley relay team of Tim Konopka (Havertown, PA/Haverford), Andy Keller (York, PA), Chris Dumbroski (Grove City, PA/Grove City) and Michael Blake (Johnson, NY/inisink Valley) ran to first place as well.

Unfortunately, a computer problem will prevent the posting of the complete results from the meet.


Devils Open Spring Season at Jim Taylor Invitational
March 25, 2006

(Selinsgrove, PA)- The Dickinson College men's and women's outdoor track teams opened the 2006 season with some top performances at the Susquehanna Jim Taylor Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Annie Scogin (Groton, NY/Groton Central) won the 5000 meters with a time of 17:35.66, followed by Abbey Fergusson (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) in second and Emily Hulme (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) in sixth.

Iva Liou (Fairfield, PA/Fairfield)placed second in the shot put with a throw of 11.22 meters, and placed 12th in the discus and the javelin.

Sophomore Caitlin Bradley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) won the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 16:00.62. Layla Naficy (Westport, CT/Staples) was sixth in the steeplechase.

Sophomores Caitlin Strahota (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro) and Eliza Eshelman (Columbia City, IN/Canterbury) finished third and fourth, respectively in the 10,000 meters, and first-year Darcy McDonald (Lititz, PA/Warwick) was fourth in the 1500.

Senior Tom Rhodes (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Dublin) crossed the line first in the 5000 meters in a time of 15:19.92. Sophomore Evan Sparling (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spalkenkill) was fourth and first-year Michael Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley) placed fifth in the 5000.

Sophomore Nick Trimboli (Harahan, LA/Portsmouth Abbey, RI) finished second in the 200 meters, clocking a time of 22.85. First-year Andrew Shulte (Bloomfield, MI/Bloomfield Hills Andover) was second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.02, and sixth in the 400 hurdles.

The 4x100 relay of Robert Chain (Fort Washington, PA/Central), Victor Johnson (Wayne, PA/Radnor), Trimboli and Will Scott (Capital Hts, MD/Mercersburg Academy) finished third. Chain also placed fourth in the 100 meters.

The Red Devils host the Little Three Championships next Saturday at Biddle Field.
