Bullets Stop Devil Streak at Nine, 61-48
January 17, 2007

(Gettysburg, PA)- The Dickinson College women's basketball team shot much better from the free throw line on Wednesday night, but fell on the road at Gettysburg College 61-48. The Red Devils shot 86 percent from the line, hitting 18-of-21 free throws. The shot just 33 percent from the field however, and were 0-for-12 on three-point attempts.

Dickinson took an early lead before the Bullets went on a run to take a 30-17 advantage at halftime. The Bullets stretched the lead to as many as 14 in the second half. The Red Devils went on a late run, pulling within six in the final four minutes. Solid free throw shooting secured the win for Gettysburg. They went 6-for-6 in the final 47 seconds of the game.

Senior center Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) led the Red Devils with 10 points and 14 rebounds, adding three blocks and a pair of steals as well. Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) scored a team-high 12 points. Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) chipped in with eight points and four rebounds while senior Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) handed out four assists.

Courtney Fields led Gettysburg (11-5, 8-2) with a game-high 16 points and eight rebounds. Allie Dreshler added 15 points.

The Red Devils slip to 12-3 overall and 7-2 in the Centennial Conference. The are off on Saturday before returning home to face Muhlenberg on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.

Devils Survive Overtime Thriller With Cabrini 57-53
January 15, 2007

(Carlisle, PA)- The Dickinson College women's basketball team overcame a dismal free throw shooting performance to earn a 57-53, overtime win over Cabrini College on Monday night. The game was tight throughout with the Devils claiming the biggest lead of the night in the first half, 10-4, at the 12:19 mark. Dickinson held a 29-26 advantage at halftime.

The Red Devils shot 36 percent from the free line and just 38 percent from the floor, but played solid defense down the stretch and into overtime to secure their ninth straight win, and improve to 12-2 on the season. The Devils missed all nine freebies in the second half, but recovered to hit 7-of-11 in overtime.

Cabrini took a 44-43 lead, their final of the game with 5:28 remaining in regulation. Dickinson answered on a lay-up by Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) with an assist from Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) to retake the lead. Houseal then made a steal and sank a huge three-point field-goal to put the Devils in front 48-44 with 2:45 on the clock.

Cabrini's Kate Ryan drained a pair of free throws before missed foul shots on the Dickinson end led to a Kayleen Smith lay-up to tie the game (48-48) with nine seconds left in regulation. Houseal had a final attempt as time expired but was just off the mark.

Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) sparked the Devils with a three-point play to begin overtime, pulling down a rebound, scoring and drawing a foul on the first possession. The spark awoke the Red Devil defense as the intensity rose on that end of the floor. The Cavaliers converted a pair of free throws to cut the margin to 51-50. The Devils turned the ball over on the next possession but Teatom blocked a pair of shots to deny Cabrini and give the ball back to Dickinson.

Teatom would later trade free throws with Smith to make the score 55-53. Senior guard Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) sank four free throws in overtime, including a clutch pair with just five seconds remaining to secure the win.

Teatom, who was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, led the way with a double-double, scoring game-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Houseal tallied 11 points while Etess grabbed nine rebounds. Howard dished out a game-high six assists, adding eight points and three steals.

Ryan led Cabrini with 15 points while Smith added nine as the Cavaliers slip to 9-4 overall.

The Red Devils (12-2) return to Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, traveling to Gettysburg for a 6:00 pm tip-off.

Teatom Earns Centennial Conference Player of the Week Honors

(Carlisle, PA)- Dickinson College senior Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week for her performance over the last three games. Teatom led the Red Devils to three key conference wins, averaging 17.3 points per game, averaging just 25 minutes per outing. She averaged six rebounds, shot 53 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the free throw line.

The senior center moved into second on the all-time list for blocked shots at Dickinson. She recorded the 108th of her career last week and also currently ranks second with 749 career rebounds.


Howard Hands Out a Dozen in 66-44 Win
January 13, 2007

(Carlisle, PA)- The Dickinson College women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and continued to build on it throughout the game for a 66-44 win over Washington College on Saturday. The Devils pulled in front 37-19 at halftime and answered a 12-4 run with a 12-6 run and remained in control for the final eight minutes.

Senior center Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) turned in a great performance with game-highs of 23 points and eight rebounds. Classmate Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) came within one of the school record for assists in a game, dishing out and even dozen. She added six points and made three steals as well.

Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) triggered the offense in the first half, scoring 13 of her 17 points in the opening 20 minutes. She added five rebounds and also tallied three steals on the afternoon.

Elise Conway led Washington (7-7, 2-6) with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists while Jane O'Donnell added 11 points.

The Red Devils improve to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the Centennial Conference with their eighth straight victory. They host Cabrini College at 7:00 pm on Monday, then head to Gettysburg to face the Bullets at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.

Red Devils Run Past Bryn Mawr 58-40

(Bryn Mawr, PA)- The Dickinson College women's basketball team went on a 19-0 run to take a 23-4 lead over Bryn Mawr on Thursday night. The Red Devils pulled in front 37-10 at the break en route to a 58-40 victory. The win marked the seventh straight for the Red Devils as they improve to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the Centennial Conference.

The Red Devils held the Owls to just 16.7 percent shooting in the first half. They also took advantage of 26 turnovers, forcing 16 steals on the night.

Senior Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) led a balanced attack with 13 points. Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) added eight points, five rebounds and four steals while classmate Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) tallied seven points, four steals and three rebounds. First-year Lauren Solomento (Merion Station, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) chipped in with eight points.

Jessica Allen led Bryn Mawr (2-10, 0-7) with a game-high 14 points while Amy Johnson grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds.

The Red Devils return home to face Washington College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

Devils Tame Bears for Sixth Straight Win
January 9, 2007

(Carlisle, PA)- The Dickinson College women's basketball team won its sixth straight game to improve to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils posted a 66-55 win over visiting Ursinus College on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and stretched the margin to as many as 11 in the first half. The Bears made a late run to cut the deficit to just five at the break with the Devils leading 38-33. Five would prove to be as close as they would come before a 12-3 run gave Dickinson a 54-40 advantage with 8:14 remaining in the game.

Ursinus trailed by just six (61-55) with just under two minutes remaining. The Red Devils used solid free throw shooting, hitting 5-of-6 in the final minute to secure the win. Dickinson sank 9-of-10 from the line in the second half and shot 88.2 percent for the game.

Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) led the way with a game-high 17 points. She added four blocks, six rebounds and two assists. Senior center Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) finished with 16 points, hitting 8-of-8 free throws and pulling down six rebounds.

Senior point guard Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) tallied eight assists and two steals on the night. She rankes ninth all-time at Dickinson with 172 steals in her career.

Sarah Hennessey led Ursinus (6-6, 3-3) with 14 points, hitting 5-of-7 shots from the floor. Carolyn Konstanzer added 13 points and five rebounds while Mary Kate Daley tallied eight points, seven rebounds and four steals.

The Red Devils travel to Bryn Mawr on Thursday to face the Owls at 7:00 pm.

Muller and Defense Lead Devils Past Swarthmore
January 6, 2007

(Carlisle, PA)- The Dickinson College women's basketball team (8-2, 4-1) overcame a degree of adversity in a 57-41 win over Swarthmore. Playing without two starters, the Red Devils made some adjustments and overcame a 26-25 halftime deficit with a 32-15 performance in the second half.

Junior Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) played outstanding defense on Swarthmore's Karen Berk, holding the Tide's leading scorer to just 13 points. Sophomore sister Maxie Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) earned her first start and finished with a game-high 10 rebounds to go with nine points. Piper tallied seven points, seven rebounds and a pair of steals.

First-year Brooke Muller (Northampton, PA/Whitehall) took full advantage of her starting role, draining five three-pointers for a career and game-high 21 points. She dished out a game-high four assists as well to pace the Red Devils. The Red Devils lost junior starter Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) for the final five minutes after she left with what would prove to be a minor injury. She finished with six points, five rebounds and three steals.

Kay Binetti (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Friends) recorded a game-high five steals, scoring seven points. Carly Onkotz (Boalsburg, PA/State College) hit 4-of-4 free throws, scoring seven points.

Berk led the Garnet Tide (4-7, 1-5) with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Dickinson is home again on Tuesday, hosting Ursinus College at 6:00 pm.

Devils Profit at Mohegan Sun with 72-54 Win

(Uncasville, CT)- The Dickinson College women's basketball team improved to 7-2 overall with a 72-54 win over Mitchell College at the Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut. It was a homecoming of sorts for many Red Devils. Senior Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) led the way with game-highs of 19 points and nine rebounds. She also handed out four assists and made two steals.

Senior Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) handed out a game-high five assists and made three steals while junior Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-OId Lyme) tallied 17 points, shooting 8-for-11 from the field. Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) added 11 points and Kay Binetti (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Friends) chipped in with nine.

The Red Devils pulled in front 37-26 at halftime and essentially repeated the performance in the second half, outscoring Mitchell 35-28 after the break.

Mitchell (2-5) placed three players in doube-figures, led by Jennifer Iglesias with 14. Alva Jeffreys added 12 points and Shayna Barnes had 11 points and seven rebounds. Shakeya Evans scored nine points and made six steals.

The Red Devils return to action next semester. They host Swarthmore College on January 6th at 1:00 pm.

Red Devil Women Rally Past Albright 61-55

(Reading, PA)- The Dickinson College women's basketball team overcame a 32-26 halftime deficit to defeat Albright 61-55 on Thursday night.

The Red Devils had three players reach double-figures on the night. Senior Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds. She went 5-for-5 from the free throw line and also made a pair of steals.

Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) hit 5-of-7 from the line, scoring 13 points and making four steals. Classmate Carly Onkotz (Boalsburg, PA/State College) went 4-for-4 from the floor, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. She added a free throw for 12 points.

Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) added seven points, five steals, six rebounds and four assists on the night. Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) also tallied seven points and dished out four assists.

Annie McMahon led Albright with a game-high 17 points. The Lions slip to 4-3 overall.

The Red Devils improve to 6-2 overall. They head to Connecticut on Saturday to face Mitchell College at the Mohegan Sun Resort. Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm.

Red Devils Roll Past Diplomats 65-34
December 5, 2006

(Carlisle, PA) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, rolling to a 65-34 win over Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday night. The Red Devils stormed out to a 16-0 lead, holding the Diplomats scoreless for the first nine minutes of the game.

The Devils led by as many as 28 in the first half, holding a 33-7 advantage at the break. The second half started similar to the first with the Devils maintaining control of the tempo. Dickinson led 45-13 midway through the second period. They stretched the lead to 58-18 with just over five minutes on the clock.

The Diplomats battled to close the gap with the help of back-to-back three-pointers from Miriam Marcis. Marcis finished with 11 points, as did Amanda Miceli to lead the Diplomats. Miceli also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) scored a game-high 13 points and had three steals. Senior point guard Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) turned in an outstanding performance, scoring 11 points to go with six assists, four steals and five rebounds.

Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) triggered the fast start for the Devils, pulling down six rebounds, all in the first half. Sister Maxie Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) came off the bench to add five points, four rebounds and two steals. The Red Devils travel to Albright College on Thursday night for a 7:00 tip-off, then head to the Mohegan Sun Resort in Connecticut to face Mitchell College at 6:00 pm on Saturday night.

Houseal Leads Devils Past Washington 66-55
December 2, 2006

(Chestertown, MD) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team never trailed en route to a 66-55 victory over host Washington College in Centennial Conference action Saturday. Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) was one of four players to reach double figures in scoring for the Red Devils (4-2, 2-1) as she scored 11 points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds. Senior guard LaToya Turner scored a game-best 19 points in a losing effort for the Shorewomen (2-3, 0-2).

Dickinson held a 31-19 advantage at halftime and led by as many as 16 points in the second half. The Shorewomen went on a late run to close within seven points with 28 seconds to go, but that was as close as
Washington would get as the Red Devils held on for the win.

Seven of Houseal's 17 rebounds came on the offensive end. She also blocked two shots in on the day. Maxie Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) scored a team-high 12 points for Dickinson, while senior Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) and Brooke Muller (Northampton, PA/Whitehall) each tallied 11. Howard also dished out a game-high four assists.

Turner collected six rebounds to go along with her 19 points to lead Washington. Sophomore guard Christie Rogers was the only other Shorewoman to reach double figures in scoring, finishing with 11 points after a 3-for-6 performance from beyond the three-point arc.

Dickinson shot 43% from the field, 43% from three-point range, and 77% at the line in the game. Washington was 32% from the field, 23 % from long distance, and 64% from the charity stripe. The Red Devils also maintained a 45-32 advantage on the boards.

The Red Devils return home to face Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.

Terror Take Centennial Opener 56-43
November 29, 2006

(Westminster, MD)– The Dickinson College women's basketball team made a late run on Wednesday night but couldn't catch McDaniel College, falling 56-43. The Devils led early in the game before a late run put the Green Terror in front 32-17 at halftime.

McDaniel outscored the Devils 18-4 over the final eight minutes of the half behind eight points from Heather Thompson and seven from Katy Powell. The Green Terror stretched the lead to as many as 19 in the second half. The Red Devils battled back to within 10 but could pull no closer the rest of the way.

Senior center Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) led the way for Dickinson with a double-double.. She scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds on the night. Junior Kay Binetti (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Friends) hit 4-of-6 shots from the floor and a pair of free throws for 11 points. Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) grabbed eight rebounds and made three steals while senior Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) tallied three assists.

The Green Terror improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0, wining their Centennial Conference opener. The Red Devils slip to 3-2 and 1-1 in the CC. They travel to Washington College on Saturday for a 2:00 pm tip-off.

Lions Hold-Off Devils in Defensive Battle
November 27, 2006

(Ewing, NJ)– Senior Megan Hueter scored with 54 seconds remaining to lead the College of New Jersey women's basketball team to a 38-37 win over Dickinson on Monday night. The Red Devils trailed by seven early in the second half but fought back to tie the game twice and pulled in front 37-36 on a Kay Binetti (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Friends) free throw with 2:57 remaining.

The Lions jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead before the Devils got on the board. Dickinson pulled within one at the 7:34 mark but TCNJ stretched the lead back to five at halftime, 23-18.

The loss was the first for the Red Devils this season as they slip to 3-1 overall. Senior Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) scored a game-high 13 points while grabbing eight rebounds and making four steals. Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) controlled the glass with a game-high 10 rebounds, adding eight points, two assists, one block and a steal.

Junior Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds and two steals. She was a perfect 5-for-5 from the line. The Devils did all they could from the line, hitting 10-of-13 on the night while the Lions were 1-for-9.

Hillary Klimowicz led TCNJ (3-1) with 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Red Devils return to Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, traveling to McDaniel College for a 7:00 pm tip-off.

Devils Run Past 'Fords 80-52 in Centennial Opener
November 21, 2006

(Haverford, PA)– Haverford College scored the first basket of the game, but Dickinson responded with a 20-0 run en route to an 80-52 Centennial Conference win on Tuesday night. The Red Devil women improve to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.

The 'Fords immediately cut the margin to 22-10 before the Red Devils closed out the half with a 37-17 lead. After the break, the game started similar to the first half. The 'Fords controlled the pressure better in the second half but could not cut into the deficit.

Senior center Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) led the Devils with 17 points, hitting 7-of-9 shots on the night. Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) added 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) and Brooke Muller (Northampton, PA/Whitehall) each reached double-figures with 10 points, with Etess also recording four steals. First-year Olivia Dewey (Falls Church, VA/Potomac) scored 11 points.

The Red Devils travel to the College of New Jersey next Monday to face the Lions at 6:00 pm.

Teatom Scores 1,000th in Days Inn Championship Win
November 18, 2006

(Carlisle, PA)– The Dickinson College women’s basketball team posted a 71-46 win over visting Wilkes University to capture the 2006 Days Inn Tip-off Tournament title. Senior Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien) scored a game-high 20 points and reached the 1,000 point mark in her career, sinking her first shot of the second half.

The Red Devils jumped out to a 9-1 lead early behind strong play from junior Piper Etess (East Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme). The Colonels battled back to tie the game with 8:34 remaining in the half. The Devils regained a 33-24 advantage to take into halftime. The Red Devils struck first and led by double-figures for the remainder of the game, increasing their lead to as many as 26 down the stretch.

Teatom added five rebounds for the game and was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) was named to the All-Tournament team as well with two outstanding performances. She tallied 17 points to go with seven rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.

Junior Kay Binetti (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington) added nine points and made three steals. Carly Onkotz (Boalsburg, PA/State College) came off the bench to score eight points and hand out a pair of assists. Etess finished with game-highs of eight rebounds and five assists while also making three steals. Senior Jess Howard (East Granby, CT/East Granby) had a great tournament as well, recording a game-high four steals.

Randi Corbo and Lacey Andersen were named to the All-Tournament team from Wilkes. Corbo scored a team-high 13 points to lead the Colonels (1-1).

The Red Devils improve to 2-0 on the season. They travel to Haverford College on Tuesday to face the 'Fords at 6:00 pm.

Red Devils Win Big in Season Opener
November 17, 2006

(Carlisle, PA)– The Dickinson College women’s basketball team opened the 2006 season with a big win over Mount Aloyius College in the opening round of the Days Inn Tip-off Tournament. The Red Devils rolled to a 74-32 win behind 16 points and eight rebounds from senior center Ally Teatom (Darien, CT/Darien).

The Red Devils jumped out to a 14-0 start and led 41-5 at halftime. The Mounties played much better in the second half, scoring 27 points behind a 20-point effort from Lindsey Bush. The Red Devils did open their biggest lead of the nigh midway through the second half, leading 57-11 at the 10:00 mark.

Junior Laura Houseal (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) had a big night for the Devils, scoring 12 points, handing out three assists and making five steals. Kay Binetti (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Friends) chipped in with nine points while first-year Brooke Muller (Northampton, PA/Whitehall) sank her first two shots as a Red Devil on the way to eight points. First-year Olivia Dewey (Falls Church VA/Potomac) pulled down eight rebounds as well for Dickinson.

The Red Devils will face Wilkes University in Sunday's Championship game at 4:00 pm. The Colonels survived their first round match-up, defeating Penn State Harrisburg 60-59. Mount Aloysius will face PSU-Harrisburg at 2:00 pm on Sunday.
