Arabic, Chinese, French, & Spanish Faculty, Short-term position | MMLA offers four-week summer language immersion programs (in Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish) to middle and high school students. MMLA combines the fun of summer camp with the opportunity for student campers to study with skilled faculty and staff. All daily events and activities of the camp (meals, sports, drama, games, music, arts & crafts, etc) are conducted in the target language. MMLA operates at three U.S. sites (Vermont, Massachusetts, California). The primary responsibilities of faculty are leading portions of the day, including instruction in grammar and reading, as well as informal activities, such as leading activities; interacting in the target language with student campers in other parts of the day (meals, recreational activities, and cultural events); and motivating student campers to speak, read, and write in the target language. |
Native or near-native fluency in Arabic, Chinese, French, or Spanish; Experience teaching middle and/or high school students; Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team; Leadership skills; Summer camp experience preferred | |

Director of Blume Language and Culture Learning Center
Trinity College seeks to hire a Director for its Blume Language and Culture Learning Center to start on July 1, 2008. Initial three-year appointment, renewable annually afterwards. Required qualifications: M.A. or Ph.D. in educational technology, instructional design, second language acquisition, foreign language pedagogy, linguistics, or a related field. Required are a thorough understanding of foreign language educational technology and a demonstrated ability to connect language learning to other disciplines. Prior experience in supervising a foreign language learning center is preferred. The successful candidate will be able to teach one of the nine foreign languages offered through the Department of Language and Culture Studies.
