Near-native fluency is also required, as this job requires teaching in the context of our district's well-established French Immersion Program, and in our traditional French program, wherein all instruction is delivered via the target language. Arabic, Chinese, French, & Spanish Faculty, Short-term position | MMLA offers four-week summer language immersion programs (in Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish) to middle and high school students. MMLA combines the fun of summer camp with the opportunity for student campers to study with skilled faculty and staff. All daily events and activities of the camp (meals, sports, drama, games, music, arts & crafts, etc) are conducted in the target language. MMLA operates at three U.S. sites (Vermont, Massachusetts, California). The primary responsibilities of faculty are leading portions of the day, including instruction in grammar and reading, as well as informal activities, such as leading activities; interacting in the target language with student campers in other parts of the day (meals, recreational activities, and cultural events); and motivating student campers to speak, read, and write in the target language. |

#510 The Department of Romance Languages at the University of Vermont will be offering a Graduate Teaching Assistantship for the next academic year (08-09) to a student who wants to achieve a Master of Arts in French. The stipend is approximately $15,000, plus a tuition scholarship for up to ten credit hours per semester.
The responsibilities involve teaching one section of first-year college French, fall and spring semester, four days a week. While the fellowships are given for one year at a time, they are frequently continued for a second year so that the student can complete the work for the M.A. Candidates should apply to the Graduate College ( http://www.uvm.edu/~gradcoll ) by February 15, 2008.
