Summer 2006
The Equestrian Team had a very successful year, with a steady increase in membership and participation. This May we say goodbye to two seniors, Gwyn Pohl and Emily Jones. Both have ridden with the Team for all of their four years at Dickinson, and we will miss them.
Fall 2006
This fall the Equestrian Team traveled to Pennstate to compete in two IHSA shows in the months of September and October. Dickinson also hosted two shows at our facility in November, with competitors placing well at all four horse shows.
Spring 2007
On January 26th through the 28th Open Riders Elizabeth Gingrich and Nicole Godley headed down to Georgia with coach Lindsay Vulich to compete in the Tournament of Champions. Godley was called back for the second round, being one of the top sixteen among forty. This was the first time in Dickinson Equestrian Team history that team members were invited to this prestigious event. The team continued their season with success by competing in two shows hosted by Wilson College, and came out Reserve Champion Team at the second show. Open Riders Nicole Godley and Elizabeth Gingrich also qualified for the Cacchione Cup hosted by Wilson College at Regionals and ended up second and fourth.
Clinics...
In February Central PA trainer and judge Julie Ely came to the facility to share her knowledge to improve the team and give another perspective.
In April, famed Olympian, Trainer and Clinician Michael O. Page traveled all the wayfrom New York to teach us a clinic. His knowledge and skill provided our riders with new insight on how to improve and reach their potential. Professors, friends and family of riders attended this event and were greatly impressed by the clinic and our team. We all enjoyed a catered lunch and hope to make this an annual event.
